St. Louis Post-Dispatch, June 15th and 16th, 2007

Our Mark is buried in Park Lawn Cemetery, Lemay Ferry Road, South St. Louis County, Missouri, Section 5, Lot Number 95, Grave 3.  He is 30 feet away from the graves of his great grandparents, John and Marie DeWalle.

Prayer Intercessions from Mark's Funeral Mass

We are assembled in faith and confidence to pray for our brother, Mark.  Strengthen our hope so that God may welcome Mark, who in baptism was given the pledge of eternal life, may he now be admitted into the sanctuary of Heaven, Lord hear our prayer.

For Mark's deceased relatives, especially Richard and Sophie DeWalle, Donald Henderson and Christopher Henderson, and for all who have helped him, that they may have the reward of their goodness, Lord, hear our prayer.

The family of Mark seek comfort and consolation.  Heal their pain and dispel the darkness and doubt that come from grief, that they find solace in the Word of the Lord and the promise of eternal life, Lord, hear our prayer.

For Mark's friends, especially Jimmy Brockmeyer, Joshua Standeford, Jodie Bertelsman, Jonathan Hearst, Kevin Houska and Shelley Meilink, who have fallen asleep ini the hope of rising again, that they may be granted an everlasting home with your Son, Lord, hear our prayer.

For the parents of Mark's friends who have joined the Kingdom of Heaven before him, that they may be comforted that their children dwell with God, Lord, hear our prayer.

For Mark's friends, that they find comfort in their time of  grief and pain, and that they may be consoled in their loss and strengthened in their love and kindess for one another, Lord, hear our prayer.

Mark David DeWalle 
     DeWalle, Mark David age 24, from the loving arms of his family to the loving arms of Jesus, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Wed., June 13, 2007.
     He joins his late grandparents, Richard and Sophie (nee Rycharski) DeWalle and Donald Henderson, cousin Christopher Henderson and close friends Jimmy Brockmeyer, Shelley Meilink, Jonathan Hearst and Kevin Houska. Mark is survived by his loving parents Donald and Barbara (nee Henderson); his brother John; his sister-in-law Tabitha (nee Hanson); his nephews Michael David DeWalle and Daniel Mark DeWalle; his grandmother Joyce Henderson (nee Colas); and all of his cousins; Mark was the nephew of Richard DeWalle Jr., Mary DeWalle, Jean Snook, Mike and Debbie Henderson, Debra and Terry Hoffman, Katie and Steve Galen.
     Mark was a true champion throughout his life. He was a proud member of the 1999 Mehlville Sr. High School Football State Championship Team, a team captain and winner of many accolades including the FCA's Courageous Heart Award. He was loved by his teammates, coaches and friends and will always be remembered for his Panther Spirit.
     An avid golfer, he found peace playing at premier golf courses including Pebble Beach. As a store manager, employed by Golf Discount, Mark opened two stores in Memphis, Tennessee and most recently was manager of the Fairview Heights store. Mark's Golf Discount family was extremely supportive to Mark and his family throughout Mark's journey and the family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love and care provided to Mark and his family by his Golf Discount brothers.
     Mark will be remembered for his mischievous smile and his devotion to his family and friends. He respected and loved his brother, John, with all of his heart and regarded all of his friends as their brother as well. Mark concerned himself not with the challenges that faced him with his illness, but with the effect his illness would have on his friends. He wished for everyone to remember him as Mark and wished for his friends to continue to take care of each other.      Services: Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. at Butler Hill on Mon., June 18, 9:30 a.m. to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to The Mark DeWalle Benefit Fund, 1131 Marchi Drive, St. Louis, MO 63129. Visitation Sat., 3-9 p.m. and Sun. 4-8 p.m.
